Trader in court for allegedly assaulting security guard

A trader Wisdom Ezeji, 32, who allegedly assaulted a security guard in Kubwa General Hospital,  in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in  Abuja.

The police charged Ezeji with disturbing public peace and refusing to answer a public servant authorised to question.

The Prosecution counsel , Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the defendant held Emmanuel Musa in a choke-hold.

Olanipekun, said that when the defendant was invited to Kubwa Police Station by the police for questioning, he refused to respond.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 265, 113 and 142 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty and said he only exchanged words with the security man.

The Defence Counsel, Taiye Okoya, prayed the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms.

Magistrate Muinat Oyekan admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two reasonable sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

She adjourned the case untill March 25 for hearing.
