Alhaji Mohammed Sani, the Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government council in Nasarawa state, says that the council has sunk five motorised boreholes to reduce water scarcity in five rural communities in the council area.

Sani made this known on Wednesday in Nasarawa, the headquarters of Nasarawa Local Government area, while speaking with newsmen.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the benefiting communities of the water project include Onda, Udege and Odu, among others.

He said that the water projects had become imperative to boost the socio-economic activities of the communities.

“So far, we have been able to drill five motorised boreholes and we hope to have more in order to tackle the water challenges and improve on the health and standard of living of our people.

“One of the major challenges we are having in our communities is potable water, hence the need for the project.

“He who provides water provides life. Human beings cannot sustain their lives without water,” he said.

Sani also said that the council had embarked on a one-kilometre road construction in the area in order to boost transport system and the socio-economic activities of the people.

“We are constructing a one-kilometre road around Angwan Maireke/Angwan Malam to Mogoro Goma and it is almost completed.

Sani urged the people of the area and Nigerians to support and pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, Gov. Abdullahi Sule and other leaders to succeed in the tasks ahead of them, adding “every leader needs the support of his people to succeed.”
