We won’t run Adamawa solely on federal allocation – Nyako

By Yakubu Uba

Yola, Feb. 21, 2019 The Gubernatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa, Sen. Abdul-Aziz Nyako, says if elected, his administration will not depend solely on monthly federal allocation to run the state.

Nyako made this known on Thursday in Yola in a chat with newsmen on his key goals for the state if elected.

According to Nyako, the dwindling monthly allocation and growing developmental needs of the state makes it necessary for any administration that means well for the state to have clear cut ways of generating more internal revenue.

He said his administration planned to build “a modern economic system in the state through increased productivity, income generation, profitability and continuous infrastructure improvement.’’

Nyako said that his key goals for the state were tailored within the context of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

He said unemployment would be tackled through a series of initiatives including; skills acquisition, training and empowerment of farmers to boost production through extension services and timely supply of farm inputs.

“We will also eradicate poverty and hunger through special assistance programme.”

Other areas of priority listed by the candidate included healthcare delivery and water supply for humans and animal needs.

He said ADC administration in the state would also ensure good governance through accountability, transparency, zero tolerance for corruption and wastage.

Nyako, who is the serving senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, lauded the support shown him by the electorate during his ward to ward campaign tour.

He also pledged that his administration would ensure peaceful co-existence within the state through the rule of law, equity and justice for all.
