Why I train health workers on skills acquisitions – MHWUN Chairman



Mr Monday Otso, the Chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Federal Medical Centre, Keffi Chapter, says he has trained members on various skills acquisition programme.

This, he said, would enable them become self reliant to boost their income and enable them contribute their quota to the development of the country during and after their service.

Otso, who is seeking re-election, made this known on Thursday in Keffi while answering questions from the association’s members during the manifestoes manifesto presentation of the union ahead of the its election on Jan. 21

While appealing for support and votes from members for his re-election bid, Otso said that he has achieved a lot towards improving the standard and welfare of members.

“You are all aware what I have done my best in the last three years as your chairman.

“I have done well by God grace by prioritising our members welfare towards bettering your standard of living.

“Members who were stagnant were duly promoted due to our quality leadership as we also purchased an ambulance.

“We organised MHWUN football competition as we have purchased jersey, other sports kits and public address system among others to boost sports among our members.

“As we have ensure that 2017, 2018 and 2019 promotion exercise done successful as at when due among other benefits.

“We have also ensured upgrading/conversion of some members who were officially released to school.

“We have also honoured few deserving individuals, whose legacies are worthy of emulation for their immense contribution to the development of the union and humanity,” he said.

The chairman promised to ensure completion of ongoing construction of boreholes and car wash, among others projects, if re-elected.

Also speaking, his opponent, Mr Abdullahi Abdullahi, promised to carry everybody along if elected as the chairman of the union.

Earlier, Mr Mohammed Adamu, the Public Relation Officer of the centre who chaired the programme, urged the aspirants to show decorum in their presentations.

He also enjoined members of the union to obey the rules of the manifestoes in the interest of the Union and for the overall development of the country.
