Damaturu, Feb. 20, 2019 Some residents in Damaturu on Wednesday expressed their preparedness to participate in the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

The residents said this in separate interviews with News Agency of Nigeria .

They said they had overcome the shock of the postponement of the election on Saturday, saying that they were now prepared for the rescheduled elections.

Alhaji Musa Gashua, a civil servant in Yobe, said he travelled along with his family to cast their votes in Gashua, but had to return to Damaturu following the postponement of the election last Saturday.

“The family is fully prepared again for the election, we are not deterred, we are traveling back to Gashua this weekend for the election,” he said.

Bukar Modu, another electorate, said he was not discouraged by the postponement and shift in the election date.

“It is not about me alone, but we are mobilising our people at Kukareta village to vote in the next Saturday’s election,” he said.

He said many voters had appealed to the state government to pay their February salaries to enable them fuel their vehicles to transport them to their villages.

Alhaji Babagana Mohammed said that the electorate were willing to spend their salaries to fuel their cars to convey them to their villages.

He said this would enable them to elect leaders of their choice and expressed optimism that their votes would count.

Ba’aba Tanimu, said: “If government can pay salaries before the weekend, it will facilitate movements of people and massive turn out for the elections.”
