Alhaji Umar Kukuri, Chairman, Yobe Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has admonished legislators of the ninth Assembly to bury their political differences and work for the development of the country.

Kukuri gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Damaturu.

He said Nigeria had lost precious time and opportunities in the last four years due to unnecessary and avoidable disputes between the legislative and executive arms of government.

According to the chairman, the country cannot afford to waste any more time in the name of opposition.

“We cannot afford to waste more time;  the legislators should therefore, collaborate with each other to improve the lives of Nigerians.

“Poverty, hunger, disease and crime do not discriminate between members of political parties;  you should unite to fight these vices in the interest of your constituents”, he said.

Kukuri noted that the  APC now controlled both the green and red chambers of the National Assembly, as such, matters of urgent public importance must be treated with despatch.

The chairman said IPAC would continue to promote healthy competition aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, promoting good governance and deepening democracy.

“As politicians with the interest of our people, we will continue to encourage and support the government to effectively deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

‘’We will also engage in constructive criticism where and when necessary toward making the government to meet the aspirations of Nigerians.” Kukuri said.
