Young players have given me reasons to do more table tennis — NTTF Coach

Lagos, April 24, 2019 Nasiru Bello, the national coach of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), on Thursday said young players had given him course to do more for the progress of the sport.

“We are making tremendous progress in the junior and cadet categories, a sign that the future is really bright for table tennis in Nigeria and I am inspired to commit my best.

“Just recently, these players proved their worth in the ITTF junior and cadet championships in Ghana and came home with the highest number of the championships medals, which is remarkable in the African continent.

“The junior boys and girls featured in all events, won six gold, seven silver and six bronze medals, while the cadet won two gold medals in the singles at stake,” he said.

He said that adequate programme would be put in place in and out of competitions to continuously nurture the players who had exhibited their potential to take over in the nearest future.

The coach popularly known as “Alakoro” said that he was pleased with necessary assistance from the Tinkon Ishaku-led board board of NTTF which had made their participation in international championships a reality.

“We are not going to relent or sleep on this feat, but its a task for more commitment that is fundamental to sustain these potential champions on this impressive pace.

“The motivating spirit is that we have a very supportive board, and the president Tinkon, has always gone the extra mile to make sure that we participate in international championships,” he added.
