Youths call for restructuring of govt. agencies for better output

The Committee of Youths on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMC) has called for restructuring of government agencies to make them more effective and efficient in meeting societal needs.

Director-General of CYMC, Mr Obinna Nwaka, made the call when he visited the Acting Managing-Director of Nigeria News Agency Mr Ibrahim Mammaga, in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, it is time for President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration to restructure government agencies including NAN.

Nwaka, who said that CYMC was not happy with the structure of most government agencies, noted that urgent restructuring was needed if the country was to move forward.

He, however, commended NAN for its role in projecting Nigeria’s positive image and ensuring that there was peaceful co-existence among citizens.

He urged Nigerian youths to be resolute in upholding the unity of the country and desist from acts capable of causing disaffection among the populace.

Responding, Mammaga assured the youth leaders that the agency was making concerted efforts aimed at reviewing its structure to meet current global acceptable standards and demands.

He said all that was required to achieve NAN’s objective had already been added to its budget proposal, and which had been approved by the government.

The NAN Acting MD said as soon as the funds were made available, management would swing into action to put the agency in order.

He assured the youths of NAN’s support in carrying out their developmental activities, that would further sustain peace and unity of the country.

NAN reports that CYMS core function is to sensitise and mobilise Nigerian youths at home and in Diaspora on Federal Government’s programmes and policies.
