Alhaji Nasiru Lawal, the lawmaker representing Bungudu West constituency in Zamfara, said he would partner with state agency for Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP) to site development projects in his constituency.
Lawal stated this in Gusau on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the General Manager of the Agency, Alhaji Garba Muhammad in his office.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Agency is responsible for the disbursement of intervention funds secured through World Bank, federal and state governments to communities, groups and associations for various community development projects.
Lawal who is the Deputy Majority Leader of the state Assembly said, “I came to this agency today to register my readiness to partner with you to provide more projects for my constituents especially in the areas of education, health and skills acquisition.
“You know, education, health, youths and women empowerment are my areas of priority considering their relevance to the future of our society.
“I will also assist this agency in the creation of awareness in my constituency about its activities especially in project implementation and maintenance”, he said.
The lawmaker commended the management and staff of the agency for their hard work while improving the lives of vulnerable communities especially in rural areas.
Responding, the general manager of the agency, Alhaji Garba Muhammad commended the lawmaker for the visit and his zeal to partner with the agency to support his people.
Muhammad described the visit as a welcome development and worthy of emulation.
“We are ready to partner with all stakeholders to extend the dividends of democracy to our communities especially at the grassroots”, he said.
According to him, the agency since its inception in 2009, had disbursed over N1.2 billion for various projects executed in 161 communities across the state.
He solicited for support from the state Assembly to encourage the state government to give more priority to the agency.
